  • Employment image
    • Employment into areas deemed essential will be boosted.

    • Employment based on the improvement of our environment will be incentivized.

    • Small, locally owned businesses will be focused on and will receive incentives to level the playing field against major corporations.

    • Bailouts will be offered to small, locally owned businesses similar to what are offered to corporations.

  • Jobs need to come back to the North Country and Northern New York areas. We have been hurt by COVID-19 ravaging our family-owned farms and small businesses. We can do this by boosting the agricultural production in North Country and Northern New York; adding the production of hemp for farmers which will be used in the push for recyclable and earth-friendly products, grown, refined, and produced om our communities (see more about my environmental plans under the ENVIRONMENT solution). We need to help fund where there were greater loses due to COVID-19. Move transportation hubs and logistics back to the area. We need to provide better medical funding to our hospitals to allow our medical professionals to do their jobs.

Additionally, our district is in a strategic area between Canada and the rest of the state and country. Logistics is a huge industry, and our district could benefit from the growth of logistics based and logistics support companies.

Small, locally owned businesses need to be the focus. The federal government has given mega-corporations such as Walmart, Amazon, the Automakers, big banks, ect. tax advantages, grants, loans and bailouts but has never done that for the small, homegrown, local businesses; many of which are struggling and barely surviving due to the COVID-19 situation. I would push for legislation that supports, encourages and reinforces these small businesses through grants, loans and bailouts which will be paid for through taxing any mega-corporation that has accepted more than one form of government assistance in the last 20-years. This will help level the playing field and will make shopping at or supporting small business competitive to the mega-corporations.
