KOONS FOR NYS ASSEMBLY - 2026
l am a retired Combat Veteran, working-class American and truck driver wanting to give US, the citizens of the North Country and the 117th Assembly District a voice in Albany.
Project 117 is dedicated to electing a new voice to not only talk about helping the people of the North Country and the 117th Assembly District, but actually moving New York "Forward" into a better future.
"I will represent US, the working-class Americans of our district as "One of US for all of US". I will develop and propose legislation based on the wants and needs of this district over the policy of the Party.
I will represent ALL the people of this district, regardless of their political, religious, or social-economic beliefs that make US different."
FOCUS STANCES & SOLUTIONS
TERM LIMITS I will spend the majority of my time and energy to present legislation to implement term limits on all NYS politicians. If the Assembly fails to pass such legislation, I will do everything I can to get Term Limits on the next election cycle ballot as a Referendum initiative for the people to decide for themselves.
REFERENDUMS & CITIZEN BALLOT INITIATIVES I will present legislation that makes any legislative decision that directly affects the politicians voting on that legislation against the law and that legislation can only be implemented through the people voting on those issues (pay / salary, term limits, ect.). I will also set the terms for citizens to have the ability to petition to get items brought before the State Assembly and State Senate or directly to the ballot.
POLICE, JUDICIAL & PRISON REFORM I will push for the discussion to be had to look at an overhaul to the New York State police, judicial, and prison systems in order to create a system that provides protection for the citizens, proper punishment for the guilty parties, and viable rehab in order to reintegrate those who serve their time so they can effectively re-enter society without the downward spiral back into the system. This includes calling for reform or repeal of the HALT and SAFE Acts.
GUN RIGHTS / 2A SUPPORT & REFORM I support the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I will not support any legislation that infringes on the rights of the citizens of New York regarding our right to bear arms.
SOLDIER, FAMILY & VETERAN SERVICES Our district and region are home to the ONLY active-duty military base in the Northeast with full combat power. I will open discussions with higher levels of government to do everything in our power to grow the Fort Drum Area and provide superior services and state of the art facilities to the Soldiers, Families, and Veterans of the North Country.
